The Great GoBrik Regeneration
The Global Ecobrick Alliance is extremely excited to announce The End of GoBrik 2.0.
For the last six years our team of volunteers has run GoBrik to serve you and our local and global plastic transition movements. Hundreds of thousands of ecobrickers have used the system to log hundreds of thousands of ecobricks. Running a platform of this magnitude is no-mean feat! It is typically the domain of corporations and big companies.
We couldn't have done it without the countless contributions of labor, love and plastic offsetting by all us over the years. This labor of love and collaboration has lead to 125,000 authenticated ecobricks and 41,000 kg of plastic our the biosphere and industry.
However, in 72hrs we are pulling the plug on our server and database!
Yes. You read that right.
But... GoBrik's regeneration is also at hand!
Our team has working slow and steady over the last four years towards a regenerative overhaul of GoBrik.
We've been steadily building out our GoBrik code-base, database and server off of the amazon and corporate systems that we naively started on.
At the time these were the easy, straightforward option.
However, we've come to see that not only are the cost of such systems prohibitive (the corporate infrastructure providers do not have ecological priorities they only wanted our money) their fundamental for-profit business structure is contradictory to our regenerative principles.
So, heads up!
In 48 hours GoBrik will be taken down.
You will no longer be able to access your account or data.
GoBrik will then be offline for approximately 10 days while we complete the migration of the last of our data to our new server (gifted to us by the Indonesia/Singapore based DewaWeb hosting company).
And then we'll be launching GoBrik 3.0!
You will then be able to log back in wit your email and access your ecobricks are core data on our new systems.
Important notes
Our new system will be much simpler than what we had before! You will still be able to log and manage your ecobricks, however, the regen store, catalyst system, offsetting, messaging and validation systems will be offline until we can build them anew.
That said if you have any important GoBrik messages you want to save, please retrieve it off the system ASAP.
When all is ready, we'll be in touch again to invite you to log back in and activate your new GoBrik account credentials!
